nikki_head_ears.jpg (22687 bytes) pretty little head, mane frosting, sharply outlined ears, pink, freckled skin

nikki_rear.jpg (26806 bytes) a peek of the pink skin under-tail plus lots of leg stripes!

nikki_head.jpg (24931 bytes) unmistakable freckling on muzzle & around eye (champagne trait)

nikki_eye&dorsal.jpg (21583 bytes) initial peek at her stunning dorsal stripe

nikki_body_stripe.jpg (26115 bytes) shoulder and neck barring

nikki_butt.jpg (70475 bytes) dorsal, overall coloring (washed out by sun)

nikki_legs_muzzle.jpg (24429 bytes)  rear and fore leg striping was very visible to the naked eye in her stall.  Low light caused show shutter speed, blurring.  I was too excited to wait for an outdoor shot!

nikki_belly.jpg (39906 bytes) When I see her again I'll look to see if these were actually some kind of dun markings.  I didn't notice them in person when I took the photos.
Nikki lives in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.  She is believed to be a grade QH mare. Her owner is Ruth Lewis, who also lives in the area.  She's going to be providing us with new photos soon, and is planning to try to find out more about Nikki's past.  So far, all she knows is that she had a Palomino brother.  Perhaps he's a Gold champagne, or perhaps Nikki is carrying a cream gene... or ...?

About emailing the ICHR:  Horse color questions will not be answered without the horse's breed and registered name, if any.  Due to the extensive research conducted by the ICHR, we are usually able to determine if a horse has champagne in its pedigree by recognizing the names of ancestors we have determined were champagne, listed in the right column of each entry in our stud book.     ASK about "grade" horses, please.
