International Champagne Horse Registry

Foal color possibilities

This chart is strictly for the base Champagne colors; if you have other genes modifying the colors, such as pinto, dun, Appaloosa, cream, roan, etc., you would need to take those into account as well.  These are results for horses who have not been tested for Ee or Aa.  If you horse has been tested, you can leave out those possibilities that your tests eliminated.   Percentages are not guarantees; they only show probability where applicable.  Clicking the horse pictures will take you to a DIFFERENT PAGE, about that color.  We're using "chestnut" to mean sorrel OR chestnut, both of which, genetically, are simply "red".

JUST ADDED:  (seal) brown champagne (sable) cross results

Emailing ICHR:  Horse color questions will not be answered without the horse's breed and registered name, if any.  Due to the extensive research conducted by the ICHR, we are usually able to determine if a horse has champagne in its pedigree by recognizing the names of ancestors we have determined were champagne,
listed in the right column of each
entry in our
stud book.
